Two children, Geeta and Sanjay Chopra, were kidnapped by two young men in Delhi. They later killed them.
ReplyDeleteIn 1978, the Indian Council for Child Welfare instituted two bravery awards for children under the age of 16, the Sanjay Chopra Award and the Geeta Chopra Award, given each year along with the National Bravery Award.
On 26 January, the awardees take part in Republic Day Parade at Rajpath, New Delhi.
Sanjay Chopra Award and Geeta Chopra Award...awarded to children below the age of 16 for extraordinary acts of courage and bravery committed before that age. The connect dates back to the notorious and gory incident when two kids, namely, Sanjay and Geeta chopra were kidnapped and then brutally murdered back in 1978. The culprits were found and hanged some time later and their namesake award was announced to be given away every year on the eve of the Republic Day.

ReplyDelete2.Siblings Sanjay Chopra and Geeta Chopra were kidnapped in Delhi by criminals Billa and Ranga and were later murdered.Billa and Ranga were found guilty and hanged for this crime.

ReplyDeleteSanjay & Geeta Chopra - Sanjay & Geeta Chopra Awards are being presented on Republic Day for Bravery as they have lost their lives due to Kidnapping by Ranga (Kuljeet Singh) and Billa (Jasbir Singh) -- Ranga Billa Kidnapping Case.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them were caught and Sentenced to Death for Kidnapping and Raping Geeta Chopra in Newdelhi.
On 25th january each year the national bravery awards for children are given out, the Geeta Chopra award and Sanjay Chopra award... the kids in the picture...
