Tata Crucible Corporate Quiz,2011-Pune

Being the Q-BIT correspondent from Pune, here are the questions(which as Pickbrain said were on the tougher side. According to him, Pune is at the 3rd position among the cities as far as the level of questions are concerned) from the quiz.Samrat Mukherjee and Ashish Singh from DCB Bank finished as the winners while the team from ECLERX ended up as runners-up. The other teams which reached the finals were Mindtickle,Cognizant, John Deree and Amdocs. While in the Tata Track, Tata Chemicals became the winners for the first time in Pune. There were more than 200 teams in the prelims and it was a hard fought battle with five among the six finalists being at the same score. We missed the finals by 2 points and returned home with the audience prize(me and my partner Jaipal adding a crucible bag to our collection).

Chakravyuh 3.0 - REVIEW

Quizzing in BIT is finally picking up pace as we witnessed last night an unprecedented audience. Atleast 48 teams vying for the stage rounds, I felt humbled by the presence of all of them, defying hunger, tire and cold to quiz!
Chakravyuh 3 was a success. In terms of crowd, response, lack of major mistakes, controversies and confusion, the quiz was smooth. The initial date of 20th Jan was changed to 21st as Leeds University occupied the auditorium unexpectedly. Keeping in mind the class timings of the juniors, the quiz was scheduled from 6 - 8.30PM.

Spread across a prelim round of 25 questions followed by 4 stage rounds, Chakravyuh 3 crowned these as the winners :

3rd : Sneha Roy & Estee Joe Mathew (2k10)

The quiz was spread out across a prelim of 25 questions, a mix of audio, video, images and text which set the bar for the rest of the evening, followed by 4 stage rounds.
1st round was called A Quiver Full of Arrows which constituted 10 straight questions. 2nd was named And Thereby Hangs a Tale, continuing on the Jeffery Archer novel naming series. This long connect round went un-cracked by the stage teams and Ajay Cyril cracked it first, sitting in the audience.
Then, as we realized we were running out of time, we sped things up from here. As we regrouped and discussed what do, Gautham confidently tested his buzzer, which he has designed from scratch and I am proud as I would ever be to say BIT had its first ever electronic buzzer round and it worked like a charm! Nervous fingers, exciting questions, quick reflexes all made this round my personal favorite! And, we called it First Among Equals...apt I suppose.
Last round was a new and innovative round called Not a Letter More, Not a Letter Less. It was basically a crossword with the clues as questions of the quiz. I hope this new concept was appreciated by all.
Final points tally was excruciatingly close with the winning team just 5 points ahead of the 2nd! The only girls team came back strong, after going for a 0 in the first and a negative in the 2nd round to finish 3rd overall!

As soon as the internet here gets even a bit faster, we will upload the ppt's on Slideshare for you too see if you missed it. I wouldn't have to argue with a lot of people if I say Chakravyuh was a success. But, only because of the people who came, enthusiastic and supportive of us, when we goofed up so much in the last quiz. AIMA 11th National Management Quiz for Corporates-Mumbai Finals

Continuing from where I left in my last post which covered the prelims round of this quiz.I couldn't qualify for the finals so what I could do next was to sit there,enjoy the quiz as a Q-BIT correspondent :P and win some audience prizes.Barring a handful of questions,the finals by quizmaster Jacob Kurian didn't match up to the questions in prelims.Tata Capital team(Govind Grewal & Preeti Shankar) or the Anjaana Anjaani team as it was named led from the beginning to finally win the quiz with almost double the score of the team coming second i.e. the Hero Honda team.I did win 4 Kit-Kats as an audience prize in a quiz that had an entry fee of Rs 7000 only :P.The quiz was followed by lunch(Chalo thoda to paisa vasool hua).While we enjoyed the lunch there,you enjoy the finals here.

AIMA 11th National Management Quiz for Corporates-Mumbai Prelims

At 5:30 in the chilly Alibag's morning I was woken up by three alarms ringing in unison.Woke Up.Slept again :)This went on for next 30 mins when I realized that I needed to be up and running if I really had  to take part in a quiz(and that too my first corporate quiz) after a hiatus of around 7 months.Had to wait for about 30 mins to catch the first ferry/catamaran from Mandwa(Agneepath & Vijay DinaNath Chouhan's name is what comes to mind) to Gateway Of India.After an hour of ferry ride,instead of catching the slow local from Churchgate which would take me to Vile Parle caught the fast local in a hurry.Result:had to get down at Bandra to catch the slow local to Vile Parle.Finally when we (me and my partner Atul) landed up at the venue we felt as if we have come to the wrong place as we were the only two guys in jeans and tshirts with everybody around us in formals and suits(it was a CORPORATE quiz:P).Leaving our adventures aside,a total of 28 teams participated considering the steep entry fee of Rs 7000 for a team that was a good number.Jacob Kurian was the quizmaster who had a total of 30 ques for the prelims out of which 29 I have posted here.Enjoy this post.Will post the finals in my next post :)
