I was the trade name of a cyanide based pesticide invented in early 1920s. It was used by Nazi Germany to murder around 1.2 million people in concentration camps. But this was not the first use of a poisonous gas in war. In world war one, J , a Nobel laureate, helped his country by developing and deploying chlorine and other poisonous gases. We, however, remember him as the scientist who synthesized K, important for fertilizers and explosives. A fictional description of J's life, and in particular his longtime relationship with L, appears in Van Thiessen's 2003 play "L's Gift." L waas visiting the United States when Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, and being Jewish, did not go back to Germany. On the eve of World War Two, he endorsed a letter to American president M, which eventually led to what would become the N.
Under the N, USA produced O and P, which it dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively.
Q is an ancient castle town and the centre of Kityakushu, Japan. It was the backup target for O and the primary target for P.
