  1. 1.> Gold Leaf was the first commercial Formula 1 sponsor in 1968. The brand was owned by Imperial Tobacco whose logo is displayed in the question.Imperial entered the sport with Team Lotus in 1968. After three and half years it was decided that the team would change to John Player Special colours.

    2.> Bernd Mayländer is a German racing driver.He has driven the Formula One safety car since 2000,except for the 2001 Canadian Grand Prix, when he was injured and was replaced by Marcel Fässler.In May 2005, he was one of six Mercedes-Benz drivers taking part in a record drive. Three stock E320 CDI cars drove 100,000 miles in 30 days around the clock, which resulted in an average speed of 139.7 mph (224.8 km/h).

    3.> Roland Ratzenberger was an Austrian racing driver who raced in Formula Nippon, Formula 3000 and Formula One. He died during the Saturday qualifying session for the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the same event at which three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna was killed the following day.The Association subsequently pressed for improvements to car and circuit safety in the wake of Imola and other serious crashes during the 1994 season; in 2003 the FIA mandated the use of the HANS device, designed to prevent the type of injury suffered by Ratzenberger.

    4.> Emilio Giuseppe "Nino" Farina was an Italian racing driver. He stands out in the history of Grand Prix motor racing for his much copied 'straight-arm' driving style and his status as the first ever Formula One World Champion driving for the Alpha Romeo team.

    5.> Hermann Tilke is a German engineer and auto racer, who has designed numerous Formula One motor racing circuits.The Buddh International Circuit in India is the latest circuit designed by him to join the F1 Calendar.

    6.> Pierre Eugène Alfred Bouillin (22 December 1905, Paris – 11 June 1955, Le Mans) was a French sportsman and racing driver who died in 1904. Levegh is mainly remembered for a disaster that killed him and 83 spectators during the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans automobile race.The image shows the damaged Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR which he was driving when this accident occurred.

    7.> Desiré Randall Wilson is a former racing driver from South Africa,one of only five women to have competed in Formula One.She entered one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix in 1980 with a non-works Williams FW07 prepared by Brands Hatch Racing, but failed to qualify.She also raced in the 1981 non-championship South African Grand Prix, spinning off after 52 laps.She became the only woman to win an F1 race of any kind when she won at Brands Hatch in the short-lived British Aurora F1 series in 1980.As a result of this achievement, she has a grandstand at Brands Hatch named after her.
