Daily Trivia #565 The Last Frontier of Uncle Sam

X is a tropical atoll in the Indian Ocean, and a part of British territory. It is about 1800 km from India. In the 1970s, the United States established a military base here, leading to the displacement of a large number of people. This expulsion is the topic of the 2004 documentary Stealing A Nation, written and directed by John Pilger. The US has often been accused of running secret prisons in X. Recently, Wikileaks disclosed that the UK was planning to set up a marine reserve here, to prevent the natives from returning.

In common language, X is used to denote a small region of dominance of an entity within a large area. Amar Singh of Samajwadi Party famously remarked "Rae Bareilly and Amethi are the X of the Congress in UP."

ID X.
